Frequently asked questions

The quick answers. Still stuck? Reach out. We're happy to help.

Is TroTro Guide really free?
Yes: no ads, no login. It's a community project, kept running by donations and partners so it can stay free for everyone.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Once the map loads, search and directions run on your phone. You don't need signal or data to find your way. It's built for low-end phones on patchy connections.
Which areas are covered?
Greater Accra is fully live, with 566+ routes and 2,073+ stops. Kumasi, Takoradi, Tamale and other Ghanaian cities are coming soon. See the coverage page.
How accurate is the data?
Routes and stops are community-verified and built on OpenStreetMap. It's a living map: if something looks off, you can report it and we'll fix it.
Do I need to create an account?
No account, no sign-up, no password. Open the app and search. That's it.
How do I know which trotro to board?
TroTro Guide names the stop, the route, and the words the mate shouts, so you know exactly which car to wave down. The safety guide walks you through reading the calls.
How can I help?
Report missing routes, verify stops, or join the WhatsApp community. Sponsors and partners can help bring new cities online. See contribute and partner.
Who is behind TroTro Guide?
A community of riders, mappers and volunteers mapping Accra's trotros in the open. Read the story.
